PSY - 201 Introduction to Psychology as a Natural Science Credits: 3
Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for Psychology 201 or PSY 202 .
Basic principles of psychology. The course includes the study of psychology in everyday life, as a basic and applied science, the theoretical approaches, and as a profession. Topics covered in the first semester (201) are learning and thinking processes, workings of the mind and body, awareness of the world, motivation, emotion, states of consciousness and human development. The second semester (202) includes such topics as human relations, theories of personality, positive adjustment to contemporary society, disorders, therapy and change, psychological testing and applications of psychology. Students taking 201- 202 cannot get credit for Psychology 210.
